چکیده

Badlands are typical erosional landforms of the Apennines (Northern Italy) that form on Plio-Pleistocene clayey bedrock and rapidly evolve. The present study aimed at identification assessment areal temporal changes badlands within a pilot area Modena Province (Emilia Apennines), where no previous detailed investigation has been carried out. For this purpose, diachronic was out to map drainage basin networks linear erosion features in during last 40 years, evaluate basins morphometry surface, land use pluviometry. indicated general stabilisation trend area. In fact, reduction bare surface from 6187.1 m2 1973 4214.1 2014 (31%), due an intensified revegetation process around badland areas, recorded. This trend, line with results research other sector Northern Apennines, is mainly intensive changes, mostly increase forest cover agricultural land, occurred 1970s onwards.

Investigation and monitoring in support of the structural mitigation of large slow moving landslides: an example from Ca' Lita (Northern Apennines, Reggio Emilia, Italy)

The Ca’ Lita landslide is a large and deep-seated mass movement located in the Secchia River Valley, in the sector of the Northern Apennines falling into Reggio Emilia Province, about 70 km west of Bologna (Northern Italy). It consists of a composite landslide system that affects Cretaceous to Eocene flysch rock masses and chaotic complexes. Many of the components making up the landslide system...

Syn-thrusting polygonal normal faults exposed in the hinge of the Cingoli anticline, northern Apennines, Italy

The Cingoli arcuate anticline is part of the Apennines fold-thrust belt in Italy. The anticline nvolves sedimentary carbonate strata generally affected by syn-thrusting contractional tructures such as bed-normal pressure solution seams, folds, and reverse faults. An xception is constituted by an outcrop in the anticline hinge, where sub-horizontal arbonate and chert beds are affected by joints ...

Arid climate 2 . 5 Ma in the Plio - Pleistocene Valdarno Basin ( Northern Apennines , Italy )

Distinctive, eolian-dominated sandy deposits 35 m thick exposed along the SW margin of the Plio-Pleistocene Valdarno Basin in the Northern Apennines, Italy, reflect an unusually arid period in the region. Paleomagnetic investigation and Ar/Ar dating of a tephra layer, 10 m above the eolian sand, suggest that the sand was deposited between about 2.7 and 2.4 Ma. This age is coeval with the global...

Dynamics and conceptual model of the Rossena castle landslide (Northern Apennines, Italy)

In the Northern Apennines there are many historical villages and castles, which are of great value and represent a cultural heritage of great importance. Their presence within a territory greatly affected by landslide hazards creates, in many circumstances, the need to solve problems of land management and to act for the preservation of historical monuments. This paper describe an interesting l...
